Reiki Certification CoursesUnless you’ve been living in a cave, you’re probably thinking about ways to stay healthy. Masks? Vitamins? Storing food for a quarantine? Canceling travel? Buying gallons of hand sanitizer? Let’s take a breath.
The best defense against illness is having a strong immune system. (And second best is washing your hands – of course.)

Here’s something to know, and then something that can help.
What is the biggest way to have a compromised immune system? Stress. Let me say it again, slower. S-T-R-E-S-S.
Stress affects the body, increasing stress hormones and putting healing on the back burner as the body puts survival first, healing later. The body is designed to respond to stress as if it’s being chased by a bear. Survive first, heal later.

One of the biggest causes of stress is fear. And, if you have spent even five minutes online lately, you’ve probably noticed that there’s a lot of fear going around right now. Fear causes stress. Stress weakens the immune system. Weakened immune systems leave people vulnerable to illness.

So, let’s start with having a strong immune system, because that is the best way to avoid getting sick. That means, changing our stress response to a healing response in our own bodies. This is something that we can control!

One of the biggest benefits to knowing Reiki is having a tool to use to increase relaxation, which relieves stress and causes the body to be flooded with healing hormones – the ones that bring the immune system to its peak performance! Self healing with Reiki daily can actually help protect you against disease.

You can also receive Reiki from a Reiki practitioner. And that is also really great, whether you are a practitioner or not, getting Reiki from another is like getting a cleaning at the dentist vs brushing your teeth. Both are good. Both are considered important.

Anyone can learn Reiki who wants to. And this tool, once learned, is yours for a lifetime. It’s easy to learn. It takes minutes to practice. And it creates a huge benefit to your health and well-being.

Plus, once you know Reiki, you can offer it to others either as a friendly family member or friend, or as a professional. Reiki takes you places! Or, as one of my students says, “Reiki changes things.” It is a game-changer.

Last week I mentioned that I’m also giving away four videos that explain what Reiki really is, how intention works, how intuition works, and what chakras are (plus two word phrases to remember them!) Yes, I said giving away – that means no cost! I really want you to understand this stuff because it will open big doors for you.

Go to to get those videos.

AND, I’d love to invite you to join the new Practical Reiki group on Facebook, where I can answer all of your questions about Reiki, and we can share so much!

To your health!

Managing a Reiki Practice by the Reiki Healing Principles

by Rickie Meryl Freedman

Rickie Freedman

Preparing for my Workshop “From Passion to Profession – YES You Can!”, I finally counted and was amazed to discovered that I share almost 1000 Reiki Sessions a year not including events, classes, workshops, and fundraisers!

I am Blessed to have created and manage Harrisburg PA’s first Reiki Center “Reiki by Rickie ~ ReikiSpace & Learning Place.” ReikiSpace is truly an extension of me, and I make a conscious daily choice to live in Integrity with the Reiki Healing Principles every day.  I am convinced that the reason that ReikiSpace is successful is that Love and Service are always first, and we are never focused on numbers, dollars, competition, or fear.  I am very conscious of the Energy of all my words, emotions, attitudes and thoughts, and how they impact my well-being and inner peace, my clients and co-workers, and on and on into the world.

Here are the Reiki Healing Principles, along with my personal philosophy. They impact my business on a daily basis. I recite them many times daily, and thus I created the “Rickie Healing Principles” so that I can express what I desire to attract and how I choose to be in my life with the highest vibration.

1) “Just for Today, I Release all worry”…Worry is a low frequency vibration. It will lower your ability to attract what you truly desire, and attract more to worry about. My “Rickie Healing Principle” states “In this Moment, I Choose Faith.” Every aspect of my journey has been about trusting my guidance and being willing to say YES! Stepping forwards, and taking inspired action. I Trust in perfect and divine timing, and I am able to flow with the natural ups and downs of class attendance, weather cancellations, missed appointments etc. I Trust that “In this moment, all is well.” Cycles will come and go, and I will continue to learn and grow from every challenge.

2) “Just for Today, I Release all anger”…Anger can drain energy in huge bursts. Walking the Reiki path doesn’t mean we don’t experience every emotion, or have significant challenges come our way. Reiki is a path of Integrity.  Anger can be an impetus for change if expressed in a healthy and loving way in alignment with Reiki.  My “Rickie Healing Principle” states “In this moment, I Choose Peace.” Peace is what I desire in my life and my Reiki practice. Sometimes it is a moment by moment choice to breathe deeply and share Reiki with myself so I can continue to be a Healing Presence for others. When a client forgets their appointment, I am able to be in place of Compassion, as we have all done this at one time or another. In my experience, no one ever takes advantage of this, as they never want to miss their Reiki!

3) “I Honor Every Living Thing”…Reiki honors our connection and Oneness with all sentient beings. The more love and compassion I can allow for myself, the more I can share with others. How we treat ourselves affects others and the world. Reiki always begins with ourselves. Keeping ourselves filled up, connected and grounded allows the energy to flow through and never drains us, while remaining heart-center and connected. I am able to view the behavior of others with the eyes of Compassion.

4) “I Earn my Living with Integrity”…Of course, we always need to be honest in our work. This principle to me is about our “Life’s Work” – are we following our passion and purpose, sharing our gifts, and living in accordance with our own core values? Integrity lives in our solar plexus, and our gut will speak to us when we are not being our True Selves in the world. It is not enough just to “Talk the Talk.” People can feel when we are not in alignment, and will not feel the safety and trust so crucial in the Reiki relationship.

5) “I Show Gratitude for all my Many Blessings”…Gratitude is one of the highest frequency vibrations. When we remember to show and express our Gratitude, by the Law of Attraction we will continue to attract more abundance to be Grateful for. This can be financial – money is an energy which must continue to flow and be shared – but it can also be an abundance of peace, joy, and bliss etc. It is physiologically impossible to be stressed and Grateful in the same moment.  Writing 3-5 things we are Grateful for every morning and evening is a simple powerful practice that takes very little time. It will start and end your day in a positive vibration, and you will catch yourself throughout your day looking for things you are Grateful for to remember to put in your Gratitude journal!

“Just for Today”…We can all make the moment by moment conscious choice to apply the peaceful, balancing, connected, unconditionally loving, non-judgmental perspective of Reiki to every aspect of our lives and work. It is all one and the same when we live in integrity by the Reiki Healing Principles. BE Reiki, and continue to always choose L.O.V.E. (Living One Vibrational Energy).

Peace and Namaste’, Rickie

The Truth About Sensitives

By Jennafer Martin

While everyone is capable of empathy–if you stub your toe, then you can can empathize with someone who stubs theirs–not everyone is an empath, or highly sensitive person (HSP). People with these natures can empathize even when they haven’t experienced what you have. Read on to sort through the truth and the myths behind empaths.

People choose to be highly sensitive. False. People are born highly sensitive. It’s usually inherited from a parent, and it’s the way they are wired.

Highly sensitive people make up 20% of the population. True. One in five people are highly sensitive worldwide. So although they aren’t the majority of the population, they aren’t as rare as they often feel.

Sensitive people are overly emotional. False. While HSPs can be sentimental, being sensitive as a nature is more about having a nervous system that’s dialed up and takes in sensory input at a deeper/stronger level than others.

People can turn off/get over their sensitive natures. False. Highly sensitive people can’t control the way their systems react, although they can definitely manage it so it’s less overwhelming.

Highly sensitive people are great listeners. True. HSPs offer you their full attention, listening with empathy and compassion.

Sensitives are shy introverts. False. While empaths sometimes pause to assess the energy in new situations, they are not shy. And while they need regular alone time to decompress, many are extraverts.

Highly sensitive people are healers. True. Because they naturally feel others’ emotions, HSPs are natural healers. Sometimes by profession (counselors, nurses, etc.) and sometimes by being the one everyone goes to for advice.

Find out more about highly sensitive people and how to manage this amazing nature in the Solutions for Sensitives class series coming up in January 2020.

Dear Healers and Seekers,

I’m still buzzing from my time at SAND. In fact… I’ve had a few eyebrow-raising electronic blowouts happening around me lately too. My digital picture frame in my office, which displays pictures of weddings I’ve officiated, had a complete crash of the video card about 5 minutes after I walked into my office after returning home. Two little battery-operated spotlights (new) in my office needed the batteries replaced suddenly at the same time.  And yesterday, my car battery died all at once.

Is it Mercury Retrograde? Is it me? Is it random. (No, it’s not random).

I’m always curious about the forces at work in our minds, consciousness, and the bigger picture. I figure trying things and seeing what happens is a great way to learn. “Let’s find the easiest way to do something new!” is my motto.

Yesterday, I had a small group in my office where we played with the aura camera, EEG headset, and tapping to see what would change. The results were pretty astounding, and exciting. Of course, there’s so much more to learn, so I’m looking forward to repeating the experiments we did with more people, and trying more things like the heart chakra tuning fork I have, and playing with some new crystals shining in a bowl on my desk.

It’s one thing to feel something working. And yes, qualitative data is always important. I mean, no matter how many visions, tingles, or psychic experiences a person has during a Reiki session, what really matters most is if the person feels better at the end, right?

But, how about if we have the technology to compare brainwaves, or chakra levels, before and after a session? Then the body is confirming that our experiences are in line with measurable data. I have the technology, friends! I’m inviting you to join me in some cutting edge experiments that can help tie our experiences together into some measurable, reportable results. This is what the new 2020 Reiki Awakening Academy membership group,
Metaphysical Mastermind is about. We’re planning experiments and going beyond with follow-up discussions, comparisons, and longer-term practice in the private Facebook group that will be integral to expanding our learning together. Check out the page to read about what we’re scheduling.

Are you curious too? Fill out the quick application here, and then stay tuned for more information as we gear up.

Oh yeah – I’m also going to make a series of videos leading up to our launch, which will be short experiments you can watch me do, to help you get a taste of what we can do on a bigger scale together. I promise to share the video links here, and they’ll also be live on the Reiki Awakening Academy Facebook page if you want to be there with me as I do them! (I’ll announce beforehand so you can click and tune in).

RAA is leading the way into 2020! See you there!

With love and open eyes,

Dear Healers and Seekers,

I’m back from SAND (Science and Nonduality Conference) in San Jose, California! I’m a little tan and a lot inspired!

Such amazing workshops, lectures, and people were there! Over 1,000 attendees. Woah. My poster presentation went well and I even had the chance to show it to Rollin McCraty, head of HeartMath, Inc. (I fangirled a little – see the picture of us above!).

I wrote a lot of thoughts in my new notebook, picked up books and websites, and feel so amazed.

I also had the chance to meet and spend time with two of my long-time students and colleagues in person for the first time – Peta Morton (who just released her first book – stay tuned for when I’ll bring her to RAA for an interview), and Yancey Grantham (who is going to run the new Metaphysical Mastermind group with me). What fantastic people they are virtually and in real life!

Here’s something I wrote up that I was thinking about, just to give you a taste of the kind of brain-bursts that I had throughout the week:

Awareness Thoughts: An Oxymoron

Trying to be aware of awareness is like trying to see the eye seeing. Try to see your eye in the act of seeing, and you only get a picture image of the eye itself, but as you are seeing your eye, you’re only getting what the eye does, not what it’s actually doing.

As I was trying to understand awareness, my thoughts followed this progression:

  • I am aware that something is processing these ideas.
  • I think of the state of awareness that is happening. I’m thinking of the process of thinking itself.
  • I feel the awareness, or what I think awareness feels like, but that’s only me interpreting the experience of being aware and then getting a feeling about it.
  • The more that I am fully present, without judgement, or having feelings about the awareness, the more I am close to being actually aware.
  • Awareness itself is best as only being in the experience. Living it as the observer living through me.

What do you think about this?

Are you aware?

With love and open eyes,

Dear Healers and Seekers,

I’m so excited! After I got my Ph.D., I asked myself, “What does someone with a doctorate do with it?”

  • Teach – Check! I’m already teaching, and even teaching college as an adjunct professor at Montgomery College.
  • Write – Check! I’m writing new books and courses on an ongoing basis.
  • Speak – Yes! At conferences! Okay! I researched conferences and found SAND, the Science and Non Duality Conference, in the USA October 23-27, 2019 in San Jose, CA. I applied to be a presenter, and was selected to be a Poster Presenter and share my research. I made my reservations, and am excited to represent RAA with over 1,000 attendees, and 185 of them (including me) are Speakers.

Oh my. There are so many people going. And so many topics, all related to deep thinking topics about connectedness, the power of love and healing, quantum connections, and spirituality, all in one.

I had to create my poster for my presentation, and this was not a small, science fair poster. Oh, no. My board is 8 feet by 4 feet. I’ve never made something so large. I needed to print it on two sheets, well, I mean I needed to find a printer who could print and then ship it right to the conference center for me. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, I’m already in for registration, AirB&B, flights, rental cars, and food. So, what the heck, right? I need this so here we go.

Creating the poster was kind of terrifying. I’m great with talking. I can write. But this graphic design thing? My confidence wanes considerably. I found a template. I went through my dissertation, and after spending the whole day at it, I finished it and sent it off.

Would you like to see what my poster looks like? Look below!

Would you like to know what my experience will be like? I’m going to go live on the Reiki Awakening Academy Facebook page each day I’m there! Check the page here for my live updates (or to watch them afterward). I feel great knowing that I’m taking you with me in this way, and I can share the excitement of the conference with you while I’m there.

Most of all, I’m completely sure that I’ll be back with many new ideas to share with you – classes, posts, ebooks, books, knowledge and inspiration!

With love and excitement,

Click the links below to see my posters (which will be hung together, 1 on top, and 2 beneath).

Dear Healers and Seekers,

The first of five Reiki Principles, or Precepts, as they are sometimes called, is, “Just for today, I will avoid anger.”

That’s a great idea. There are so many people going around angry right now – especially with election campaigns and hearings ramping up. It’s like being in a pot that’s getting ready to boil. The anger, outrage, controversy, and emotional angst swirling around our country is palpable. It’s all over social media, the news, and discussions pretty much everywhere you go. How are you going to avoid this anger, and avoid getting swept up in it?

It takes determination. I will avoid anger doesn’t mean I will never get angry. But, if you are looking to avoid anger, you can recognize that you’re feeling angry and decide to release it.

How to do this? Start by examining the anger. “Hmm, I’m feeling angry about XYZ.” Looking at a feeling objectively already starts to deflate its intensity. Go farther next. Ask yourself, “Where is this anger coming from? What am I REALLY angry about?” Chances are, it’s about feeling a loss of your power. Most anger is actually a fear of losing power or control. Powerlessness can be frightening.

The next step is to ask yourself if there is something that can be done about the situation that you’re angry about. This doesn’t mean revenge. This means something constructive that you can do to help yourself feel more empowered. Sometimes, just releasing the anger by focusing on gratitude is all you need to do, and it helps. It helps because it is impossible to feel angry and grateful at the same time. So, if you switch your focus to gratitude, you’ll find your anger dissipating.

If there is something constructive to do, you can do it. This means something that won’t hurt anyone, but will actually make the situation better. You’ll feel empowered then, and not angry.

If there is nothing you can do about the situation (someone you love was fired, someone got a dire diagnosis, etc.), then you can hand it off to your spiritual team. That means, whatever your spiritual connection is, give it to them. For me, that’s my Guides and Angels. They’re the team to which that I hand off my issues that I can’t change. And, I tell them, “Take this (problem) and please solve it for the highest and best of all concerned. When there’s something for me to do, please show me.” Then, I release it, and I immediately feel better.

Going around angry is bad for the energy, and will be reflected in the health of the body as well, if it’s not dealt with. Anger leads to a lot of needless violence in this world. Changing the anger in our country, in our community, in our families, begins with our own resolve to do so in ourselves.

The Reiki Precepts are inspiring and can make powerful change in your life.

The full list is:

Just for Today

I will avoid anger.

I will avoid worry.

I will do my work honestly.

I will be grateful for my blessings.

I will be kind to all.

The Reiki Precepts, or Reiki Principles as they’re sometimes called, are not commandments, nor are they mandatory in Reiki practice. They are ideals, ethical statements. But, wow. Just try this. Focus on one each day, or all of them. Your life will be better for it.

With love,

Dear Healers and Seekers,

Throughout my ongoing studies, the deeper I get into studying healing and consciousness, whatever the source (EFT training, reading Lynne McTaggart’s books, or watching videos about various healing modalities), one theme keeps coming back repeatedly. That theme is that we are all connected.

A friend who does a type of physical therapy showed me that if I hold my left arm strong, and then he wiggles his left arm with me watching, I can not hold my left arm strong again for a few minutes.

Donna Eden demonstrates if someone holds his arm strong, and then she wiggles her hand under his arm near the side of his body (in his aura), his arm loses strength.

In a class I took with Lynne McTaggart, she emphasized that if we, as practitioners, are thinking that our client is really sick, can’t get well, or we are feeling pity towards the client, it will weaken the healing session for that client.

All three of these examples are showing how much influence we have on one another, whether consciously or not.

Today, people are very agitated by the media. There is so much mistrust, negativity, and divisiveness going on, it can feel like trying to swim through thick soup just to be around people.

But, something else I learned is that the strongest energy sways the others. So, that applies to gratitude, compassion, and love too. It means that if I stay grounded, and rooted firmly in gratitude, those around me are going to shift to my vibration, rather than bringing mine down.

You can do the same. Make gratitude a daily practice – not just words, but in your emotions. Feel grateful, even for the little things like flush toilets, hot coffee, and cozy sweatshirts. We’re dang lucky, actually, in thousands of ways. Keep that feeling flowing, and you (and all of us) can become the source of energetic change. And that has an impact.

With love,

I’m excited to share with you that the Advanced Healing Pioneers Membership Group is going to be replaced by something more experimental for 2020, the Metaphysical Mastermind membership group! Nice name, right? 😀

Led by Alice and Yancey Grantham, seminars will focus on actual experiments we’ll do together to expand our understanding of the effects of our minds and energy on making real changes in our lives in every way.

Our upcoming Seminars, which will be every other month, will focus on a metapysical concept, what it is supposed to do, and then… we’ll try it together! There will be follow up things to do (simple, impactful things) and a simple form to share your results on an ongoing basis. The Facebook group will allow us to interact, compare results, add ideas, and grow together.

I bet you’re wondering about what kind of things we’ll actualy do! That’s the exciting part!
Here are some of our topics for the year, which will start January, 2020:

  • Observing The Brain and the Body During Meditation and Healing: Through using technology such as EEG headset, aura camera, and HeartMath Innerbalance Connector, we can actually observe mental and physiological changes that happen during meditation, thinking of gratitude, manifesting, and sending and receiving distance healing. We’ll have the chance to do that, and learn via directly observable feedback just what is going on.
  • Charging Water for Healing and Manifesting Intentions: using homeopathy techniques and intention we’ll program water with specific intentions and use the water in structured ways, to see how it brings about changes for us.
  • Tapping Together on a Shared Intention, Personal Intentions, and Manifesting: using EFT techniques, we’ll test this method as a group, and going forward individually to see how we can use this powerful method.
  • Telepathy and Remote Viewing: how we can get our minds to show us what our eyes can’t see. We’ll explore techniques for connecting to information and sharing information in new ways. Then we’ll try them out!

Are you excited yet? We are!

Want to know more about the Metaphysical Mastermind? Read about it and apply now for 2020 right here!

Hoping you’ll be with us as we embark on a journey into new territory!

10 Things Energy Healers Absolutely Must Know Today

Are you working with energy healing? Perhaps you offer Reiki, or you work with a different method, such as Quantum-Touch, Energy Medicine, or something different. Regardless of whether you’re offering healing to yourself, family and friends, or as a profession, this list has 10 essentials about this incredibly diverse holistic field. This Guide is meant to help you open your mind to the greater concepts of what you’re doing, and express what’s essential to know about energy healing.

  1. Energy Healers are Facilitators of the healing process. We are not “doing” anything to the recipient; rather, we are offering an energy frequency that the recipient can come into resonance with, which will affect healing. This frequency is available to us because we are attuned to it. We came into resonance with this frequency, and now we are able to offer this to others.
  2. The energy we offer comes through us, not from us. It is not our energy – it is energy that we are capable of resonating, as a guitar string that has been plucked and then others nearby start to also vibrate. Through intention, we are offering a resonant healing vibration that affects the bioenergy field of the recipient, encouraging a balancing effect on the emotions, body, and spirit.
  3. Permission matters. The recipient must be open, on some level, to accepting this frequency in order for the benefits to occur. Free will always rules. We do not control the outcome; the energy will be used by the recipient in the ways in which it is accepted by him or her. It is not our choice, nor can we control how the energy will affect the recipient, unless we are doing self-healing.
  4. The “right method” is subjective. There’s no one “right” or “best” method of energy healing for everyone. We are individuals, with individual intuitive strengths, gifts, and preferences. Having a choice, and cultivating the tools which work best for us, is a journey, a process, and a way of tuning in to our own growth. It’s not about amassing as many tools as possible; it’s about developing our strengths in order to do the best work of which we are capable. The journey is not one with an end point, rather a continual growth and learning process. Find what feels best and is most comfortable for you to use, and develop it through mindful practice. Let others do the same without judgment. If we’re all engaged in offering our intuitive and healing gifts to the best of our abilities, that’s good for everyone.

  1. With intuitive growth comes spiritual development. As one develops a mindful practice, it is “par for the course” that one fills with gratitude for being connected with all life and this life force energy that is capable of so much healing. Allow that gratitude to flood your being, and change the way you see the world, other people, and your life. Daily connection with this energy can infuse you with Grace – and you’ll start living that way in your thoughts, words, and actions. Take time to consider the way this feels to you. Blog, journal, connect with others, and express your thoughts and feelings. You’ll find that there are many others on this journey with you.
  2. It all starts with connection. Whether you meditate, engage in yoga, repetitive exercise, journal, or find some other way to quiet the intellectual mind and tune into the intuitive mind, you are connecting to the ever present flow of life force energy. This energy is guided by intention, which is the same basic energy for manifesting, and creating change. In this space of awareness, we are able to affect change for ourselves and extend healing energy to others. The more this connection is cultivated, the more we are aware of the great power that is within us.
  3. We have help. Regardless of religious traditions of our upbringing, healing work is not done alone. There are spiritual helpers, guides, and angels, among others, who are available and helping every time. Try asking for help and see how your awareness can expand to sense their presence. Offer a quick thought or prayer of thanks for their assistance. The most powerful healing work is never done by one person alone. Nurture this connection by simply asking, and you’ll find immense support is constantly with you.
  4. Do the work. Others may doubt you, they may not believe in what you’re doing, or they may even shun you for sharing. They are on their own path, with their own lessons, which are not yours. Do not own negativity that isn’t yours. Don’t get into defensive arguments, or try to “prove” the reality of energy work to those who aren’t interested in dialogue. There are plenty of people who want and need your help. Give your attention to them. Keep doing the work with quiet confidence and the results will speak for themselves.
  5. Use your intuition. We may be presented with challenges that encourage us to consider where our boundaries lie regarding issues such as ego, delusion, and open-mindedness. Keep a perspective that’s grounded in experience, be willing to try new ideas and discuss things you question. Know that some people’s beliefs are outside of your boundaries. Trust your intuition in deciding where your boundaries are, while keeping an open mind in case your experience brings a shift.
  6. Ethics matter. Although we are not regulated by a state or federal body, it’s up to us to do our work within ethical and moral boundaries. This helps to create respect for the work, while protecting those we are here to help. Learn to speak clearly about what you do, to respect the work you are doing and those you serve, and to be a model for those who have yet to learn about energy work. We represent practitioners of energy healing, and the more we own this work credibly, the more it will help the work gain acceptance. The more this work gains acceptance, the more we have the opportunity to help make the world a better place for having been here.
